Density of identified off-grid households by 2023

Density of identified off-grid households in ROGEP countries by 2023, per country administrative boundary level 1. The households could have access to electricity through off-grid solutions by 2023 according to the least-cost analysis conducted in the framework of the off-grid solar market assessment and private sector support facility design, which was done as an activity of the sub-component 1A of the Regional Off-Grid Electrification Project (ROGEP).

Supplemental Information

Methodology:

- Settlements located outside 15 km of areas that have a high night-lights value (above 50/225 on grayscale raster), and are located outside 1km distance of mini-grids and social facilities ( health centers) and have a population of less than 350 people per square kilometer.

- The number of households were calculated using the census data on population or the population density, and calculating the sum of population per village inside each admin 1 level, then dividing by the average number of people per household in rural areas.

- For the detailed methodology, see report: ‘Regional Off-Grid Solar Market Assessment & Private Sector Support Facility Design – Regional Report

- For the sources of data used, see report: 'Regional Off-Grid Solar Market Assessment & Private Sector Support Facility Design - Country reports.
