Stakeholder Survey for Effects of Land Use Scenarios on the Provision of Ecosystem Services, Bolgatanga and Bongo Districts, Ghana, 2014

This data is the result of a stakeholder survey to identify their perception on the effects of land use alternatives. Regarding seven different ecosystem services(food provision, fodder provision, energy provision, construction material provision, market value provision, water provision and erosion control), it presents how they can be altered in a positive or a negative way by per cent when stakeholders choose a certain land use scenario.

Statement
This data was collected to analyze effects of agricultural land use scenarios on the provision of ecosystem services from the aspects of local stakeholders in Bolgatanga and Bongo districts of Northern Ghana. Stakeholder here indicates agricultural extension agents generally called as field officers. Regarding 7 different ecosystem services, food provision, fodder provision, energy provision, construction material provision, market value provision, water provision and erosion control, the stakeholders were asked how the services can be affected when current land use types changes to others according to future land use scenarios. For instance, they answered if the services can be improved or declined by per cent when cereal monocropping field is changed to cereal and legume intercropping field. The regionally eligible scenarios were derived based on fieldwork and in-depth interview with the stakeholders, and the selected 15 scenarios are related to crop intercropping, afforestation, agroforestry, and soil conservation. The data presented here is the result of calculating average by a district.
