Meta data for pasture in the Dano catchment

Date range of sample collection: 10th of October 2015 - 17th of October 2015

Files: Classification/Data-Collection.xlsx; Pasture_WM_DM.xlsx; Samples_Pasture.xlsx

Keyword: Pasture, Dano, dry matter

Conducted by: Benjamin Graf

**Classification/Data-Collection.xlsx**

Date: Date of the plot classification

Latitude: Latitude in decimal degrees

Longitude: Longitude in decimal degrees

Classification Vegetation: Classification of the vegetation into the categories "Grass" and "Mixed

Height 1 Grass: Random sample of grass height within the plot.

Height 2 Grass: Random sample of grass height within the plot.

Height 3 Grass: Random sample of grass height within the plot.

Comment: Any special appearances within the plot

**Samples_Pasture.xlsx**

Random samples were taken within the catchemnt using a 1m² boundry-box and cutting all the grass within it. The grass was then packed into bags and brought back to the research base of determining the dry matter (Pasture_WM_DM.xlsx)

Date: Date the grass-sample was cut.

ID: Unique ID of the plot. Coresponding to the ID in (Pasture_WM_DM.xlsx).

Latitude: Latitude in decimal degrees.

Longitude: Longitude in decimal degrees.

Height1; Height2; Height3: The different height measurements within the 1m² boundry-box.

**Pasture_WM_DM.xlsx**

The pasture samples were dried as quicky as possible after cutting it to prevent weight loss. For the popuse of drying a ofen was used and the weight before and after has been check for one sample out of five (all located within a sepcific area of the catchment). The grass has been dried, till no change of weight could be determined after several checks inbetween two hours. The resulting drymatter was used to determine a conversion factor, which was applied to the other samples. Drying all samples would have not been feasable.

ID: Unique ID coresponding to the ID in (Samples_Pasture.xlsx).

Total Wet (in g): Weight of the pasture sample in a wet condition (of 1m²).

Sub-Sample Wet (in g): Sub-samples had to be taken because of limited space in the ofen.

Sub-Sample Dry (in g): Dry matter of the sub-sample.

Total Dry (in g): Total dry matter of the 1m² extrapolated by using the Conversion factor.

Conversion factor: Conversion factor gained by using the figures from the sub-sample.
