The data were collected from Gicumbi District, Northern Province of Rwanda for the seek of the energy consumption in the households, specifically, for cooking and heating water. The fact was to look at the family size, monthly income level per households, energy sources alternatives,as well as the monthly energy consumption rate.

This data was collected in three randomly selected villages, respondents are villagers who use public water supply and sanitation facilities. The rationale of the data collection was to understand the extend to which the community is involved in the planning, construction and management of those facilities. The data was to be used for a Master Thesis on "The Impact of Community Participation on Sustainability of Water and Sanitation Projects in Rural Areas". The respondents were beneficiaries of the public water schemes and public sanitation facilities (Toilets). The data was collected using questionnaires.
